Masai Mara afternoon

Again, there's no point trying to impose any kind of narrative on the rest of the game drive, so I'll just let the photos speak for themselves.

There were antelope and zebra everywhere.

Banded mongooses were entertaining to watch, actively hunting and quite social. And ascending a hill gave us a rare long-distance view.

There was a varied range of birds.

A couple of black-backed jackals were entertaining to watch. And a group of elephants drinking provided some excitement at the end of the day.

This was the most photogenic day of the trip, going by photo count, and I had almost gone through two full camera batteries. (Fortunately we had power when they turned the generator on, from about 7pm to maybe 11pm, but I had four batteries anyway.)

Next: a Kikuyu farm
Previous: lunch + Mara River
Up: Kenya + Tanzania
