| Badgerys -> Canoe Flat: slept in cars at Badgery's lookout on the Friday night (I drove down, arrived 10 minutes after Vic+Val, saw wombat on road). The Saturday was overcast and pleasant walking; saw wallaby and lots of birds, crossed Shoalhaven at ?? turn (river up a bit), Vic carrying packs (I swam). Went over one difficult bit. Camped just before Canoe flat -- the sun came out and I went swimming. On Sunday river was down from Saturday; saw red-bellied black snake; dinner at Chinese place in Moss Vale |

| Castle + Monolith Valley: slept in Andrews van at Yadboro flat. Walked to Long Valley on the Thursday morning. Fog all day. Went a bit astray just before reaching first cliffline on the Castle. Up Nibelung pass, around Mt Cole, camp cave reached after 4. Friday bright and sunny. Went through Cole-Owen slot (some hairy bits, used rope for pack hauling). Climbed the Castle (hairy without packs -- another group had a useful rope), went through tunnel and returned to Long Valley, camping a bit upstream from carpark. Possum, some leeches during night. Saturday walked back to car, got home by 4pm despite slow traffic on Princes Highway. |
