Walking trips

Travel — August 2011

Some walking trips I'd like to do. Is anyone interested in joining me for these? (Camilla isn't so keen on hiking, and has a sore knee at the moment anyway.)

Daytrips from Oxford

Climbing Snowdon. Walks in the Brecon Beacons, the Peak District, the Cotswolds or the Chilterns. I'm up for any interesting daywalks within reach.

Hadrian's Wall, UK

I'd be keen to do any of the long-distance walks in the UK, whether they are National Trails or not.

Toubkal Circuit, Morocco

Perhaps an organised trip along the lines of this (a six day circuit) or this three day trip (perhaps with some time in Marrrakech as well).

Mt Kenya, Kenya

Perhaps something along the lines of this trip. My research suggests that Mt Kenya is a more interesting climb than Kilimanjaro, and perhaps a little less difficult as well.

Any other suggestions?

  1. I'm ready to sign up for your walking trips long or short. Start your fundraising drive now to raise money for my air paasage. Chook raffle, BBQ, guessing competition, kissing booth, bric-a-brac auction etc., etc., any means at all. Let me know when you reach the target and I'll be on the first flight for Heathrow.

    Get cracking!!

  2. May I suggest Thailand and Laos? I'm in Bangkok and willing to show you around. Northern Thai and northern Laos are good trekking spots. The cost of your airfare is higher but it will be balanced out by the lower daily cost.
